Hi!

Welcome to my blog! I use the word "singing" as a synonym for "seeking." I write about my Jesus-seeking in the everyday.   Sip on something yummy and stay awhile!

A Song for Someone Who Has Been Waiting for the Season to Change

A Song for Someone Who Has Been Waiting for the Season to Change

I’ve been watching them for a week. As soon as the day is warm enough, they begin to flit in flocks across the sky.

After what feels like the longest winter, they remind me a change is coming. Soon we will see the buds of spring. Soon new life will be bursting forth. Soon this season will change. Soon old things will pass away and we will behold all the things becoming new.

There are seasons in our life that feel unbearably long. It seems the bone-chilling cold will never pass away. We feel we’ve been trudging through the snow day in and day out. We get tired and our hearts feel heavy with the monotony of it all.

Friend, no matter the season, He is there. He is working underneath that perpetual winter. He is making a way where there seems to be no way. He is cultivating a hidden work that will spring forth in it’s time.

All seasons are used for His glory making and our re-making. Year after year, when it seems we can’t stand another winter day, signs of spring inevitably flit by with hope for what’s to come.

Today’s song is for someone who is waiting for the season to change. It’s one I listened to over and over, years ago, by Nichole Nordeman. Let me share these lyrics with you today:

And everything in time and under Heaven
Finally falls asleep
Wrapped in blankets white, all creation
Shivers underneath

And still I notice You when branches crack
And in my breath on frosted glass
Even now in death, You open doors for life to enter
You are winter

And everything that's new has bravely surfaced
Teaching us to breathe
And what was frozen through is newly purposed
Turning all things green

So it is with You and how You make me new
With every season's change
And so it will be as You are re-creating me
Summer, autumn, winter, spring

As you are waiting for the season to change, remember, He is there. He is with you. You are not alone. A change is coming.
